Fota House Arboretum & Gardens, in County Cork, gives visitors an intimate look at how life was lived in the past whether as a servant or as a member of the gentry. Visit the beautifully proportioned rooms with exquisite plasterwork, from the grand living space of the gentry, to the more modest service wing and kitchens. Paintings on display in Fota House include, works by William Ashford PRHA, Robert Carver, Jonathan Fisher and Thomas Roberts. A team of local volunteers, who are passionate about the house and its history, will entertain you with stories of the people who lived at Fota House and the servants who worked there. On a guided tour of the house, you will hear fascinating stories about Fota House and its vibrant past, above and below stairs. You can also take tours of the Arboretum and visit the fascinating Victorian farmyard kitchen garden. Explore Fota’s lush grounds and encounter the great diversity of exotic plants and towering trees that thrive there. Experience for yourself the unique microclimate that has helped grow the important horticultural collection developed at Fota for over 200 years. Tours operate from April to September. Enjoy delicious home cooking in the Bakestone Café. A range of events for all ages and interests take place throughout the season including garden, craft, seasonal and family events, evening concerts, courses and seminars. Fota House Arboretum & Gardens is also available for weddings, conferences and private dining. There is ample parking and coaches are welcome. Fota House Arboretum & Gardens is an Irish Heritage Trust Property.
