    Tourism Ireland is committed to making www.ireland.com accessible in accordance with EU Web Accessibility Directive (Directive (EU) 2016/2102).

    We are committed to achieving AA standard under Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 guidelines.

    Compliance status

    www.ireland.com is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.

    Non-accessible content

    Images: Not all images have meta descriptions. If images do not have the correct descriptions then a user using assistive technologies will not learn the information conveyed in the image (WCAG guidelines 1.1.1)  

    Contrast: We have modified our brand colour palette for better accessibility compliance however further work would be required for full compliance (WCAG guidelines 1.4.3)

    Exempted content

    PDF documents from 3rd parties such as digital brochures over which we have no control are exempt from these guidelines.

    Videos or audio published before 22 February 2021 are exempt from these guidelines.

    How we test accessibility

    We use the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines alongside specific tools to test conformance. The WAVE browser extension allows us to evaluate web content for accessibility issues in checking the rendered version of a page, locally displayed styles and dynamically-generated content from scripts or AJAX content.

    How we aim to improve accessibility

    • We will continue to use plain English in our content particularly on pages offering help and advice.
    • We will continue to do regular spot checks using the WAVE tool to identify and remediate accessibility issues.
